Bugs on Pomegranates

newtoucan

I have these bugs on my pomegranates that are sucking the juices out of them. They are mean looking things. They look like assassin bugs, but aren't. I read about them in Phoenix Magazine, but forgot the name of them. Something like a leaf footed bug. The juveniles are red and black and the mature ones are all black.

Every day, I blast them off with some water, but they can fly and they come right back. They are ruining by pomegranate crop.

How do you get rid of them (preferable without harsh pesticides)?
