Potatoes in az

Has anyone tried growing potatoes in az? ANy luck?

Can they be grow from seed?

I grew them once as a kid. Just plant a potato in the ground, with spuds. You will get a nice big plant, and several more potatoes. Real easy plant to deal with.

I did grow some from potato pieces that I ordered because I wanted t try some unusual ones. It worked out fine.

They used to (and may still) grow potatoes commercially in Queen Creek.

Sweets too, although this is not the right time. I am ready to harvest a half-whiskey barrel of sweeties that I planted in mid-June.

The russets I harvested just before summer hit this year so am guessing I planted them in late winter/early spring. Don't remember off-hand. Easy peasy to grow.

easy to grow but not a very good crop if u have limited space especially when u concider how cheap they are at the store same basic care as tomatoes or peppers u can plant from cut up store bought potatoes every eye will grow a plant
