Now is a great time to plant one--the days and soil are warm, but the temps aren't brutal.

I see them a lot at that size at Home Depot and most Lowes, so you could call their nursery departments. Moon Valley always carries ironwood trees, so you could call them as well to see if they have the size you want in stock. If you want to support local independent nurseries, give Berridge or Baker Nurseries in central Phoenix a call.

After a monsoon storm ripped 6 of our willow acacias out of the ground (yes you read that right) we purchased 3 ironwoods from Moon. They are slow growers but I don't even need to stake them. That was 2 years ago, they are still doing great. I can't wait until they eventually bloom in the spring!
