| You know, I don't think they do very well in deep shade. They seem to be sun lovers. Partial sun might work but otherwise they seem like they get leggy and don't bloom much. Yellow dots, Weidelia trilobata has yellow flowers and tolerates more shade, though again, deep shade is a little dark for it. If you're willing to water, coleus does great in shade in summer, as does ornamental sweet potato (though both get cranky in winter), and some succulents like Portulacaria (not portulaca) will do fine in bright shade as long as it's not over watered. Let us know what you try and how it works out. I keep a big old pot of Portulacaria and one of Euphorbia tirucalli ("pencil cactus" though not really a cactus) along the north side of my house and both do really well. Take care, Grant |
