Canary Island Date Palm with multiple trunks?

2 years ago I bought a Canary Island Date Palm from Lowes. It had three trunks. These aren't single plants that were grown in the same pot, these are true, meaty trunks growing out from the base of the mother trunk. After careful inspection, there are now 4 trunks and it looks as if another wants to sprout out from the base as well. My question is, what the heck kind of palm is this? I have other CIDPs and they are all single trunk. Could I have a Senegal Palm instead? The fronds and trunk are identical to a CIDP, the only difference are these multi trunks. I didn't think Canaries could do this.
