Nice. What's 'corn salad'?

Corn Salad = green leafy vegetable. Called mâche, in France.

It supposedly grows all winter in mild winter areas, so it may do well here.

Nice! Keep us posted as things progress. I got my lettuce and most leafy greens in nice and early, although I snuck in some bok choi last week too, hah! Happy gardening!

Do you all seed your vegetables, or buy seedlings?

For me: lettuce, bok choy, swiss chard, broccoli - seeds. Just got some onions starts though, and am getting ready to start tomato seedlings for Valentine Day planting.

Rich - I planted seeds for all.

I already have a few sprouts coming up, because I soaked them overnight before planting. And the raised bed is very water-retentive.

How is your garden doing these days? How do you cook your bok choy?

I'll chime in with the bok choy question: This time of year we eat a lot of soups and I like to tear up some of the BC and place in bottom of the bowl before ladling in the hot soup. Also stir-frys.

My dog *really* loves pulling out and eating the bok choy.....the little brat. I have to cover the bed with pvc hoops and mosquito netting. So if he were answering it would be "Raw baby."

It's still small sprouts - the lettuce finally sprouted, as did the carrots, but the spinach and bok choy are an inch or so high. I started way too late ... shoulda done it in September.

Bok choi cooking? I harvest a head of it, slice it and stir fry it. Also works good in soba noodle soup.

So far the quail have not figured out how to get under the bird netting, nor has my bunny. A cottontail has moved in, but we have hawks and owls so it may not last long.

Lazygardens - Do the quail bother your vegetables? I have a bazillion of them in my yard but they never paid any mind to the vegetables. Maybe it's because I keep a quail block out away from the garden for them to feed on. I also have a healthy cottontail population but I keep everything fenced off so they haven't been a problem.

The quail annihilated my vegetable beds a couple years ago ... ate them down from 6" greens to nubs of bare stems in a few hours.
