This reminds me of a couple of Southern peas that my grandmother used to grow in Illinois. The ones that she grew were Purple Hull Whippoorwill and some sort of Crowder peas.
I would like to try to grow them in the summer. They are supposed to be drought tolerant and be able to take the heat.
It's always nice to have a longer list of things that will grow here in the summer months.

agility_mom my understanding is that these are also known as Whippoorwill Crowder peas and are the same variety that where grown by Thomas Jefferson.
