Variegated "Christmas cactus" in bloom

Hi everyone,

I got this variegated "Christmas cactus" (technically a type of Thanksgiving cactus) two years ago as a couple of small unrooted cuttings. They slowly rooted and have grown quite a bit. This week they're making their very first flower. I'm excited!

Hopefully as it matures it will flower more and more, but for now I'm just happy to see even this single flower, LOL. The variety is 'Madame Butterfly' and I treat it like I do all of my Schlumbergera plants: water when dry and grow in a sunny window. Easy!

The only thing I monitor is to not let it make too many albino (all white, without any green chlorophyll) leaves since they use resources from the plant but don't contribute since they can't make food from light without chlorophyll.

In any case, I am excited so I thought I'd share. I hope you'll take a quick look and enjoy. Happy gardening! Grant
