Italian stone pines as Christmas gifts

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to say that while I held little hope it would survive, this little Italian stone pine that I got LAST Christmas (2013) in a cute little 3 inch pot has survived and grown for me outside all year. I thought for sure it was a goner, LOL, as you know how "they" often sell Christmas trees that aren't suited for our climate. I guess this one is, LOL.

I moved it up to a larger pot mid-spring and even though I had SIX trips away in spring/summer for 7 days or more each when this little dude got ZERO water while it was HOT, he survived and has grown. I have no long term plan for him and my garden is really too small to support him, but for now as a container plant he's done great and it's fun to send a pic to the giver to show them it's alive and growing and was, in fact, my living Christmas tree this year!

With Wilson the tennis ball to show relative size, and a red flowering cyclamen just for fun.

It's nice to know not all mini Christmas trees sold locally aren't doomed, LOL.

Happy gardening!
Grant
