It's small, only about 1.5 inches in diameter.

You don't have any Moso?

RE: Moso Shoot

Not those "small" one you have!!! Small!!! lol
I have 1st-2nd- and 3rd year growing. Nothing of size yet though. 3rd year are still showing a clumping habit and about 6 foot. Unless the seed ID was wrong... then I dont know what I have...

That doesn't look like any of my Moso, large or small, but the difference can be from it being grown in different areas under different conditions.

The young culms seem to be different coloured and the sulcis seems to be more prominent on yours.

Looks like one variegated leaf on that culm/shoot on the left.

Nice looking bamboo.

Mine don't look like that either!
My three year old shot about 4' from the main plant.
Maybe it is the zone change?

RE: Moso Shoot

I have same seedlings in a terra cotta planter that are from the same seeds in 06 I believe. But are all over the planter. Its a 25 gallon one too... 2nd year growth was all over the place. So I'm confused. ZThey culms all look the same (planter - vs - the ones in ground but the growth habit in the ones out back are like my Buddhas... less than 1/2 inch between new shoots. Weird...maybe I have a new breed here in NC...a MOSO clumper...lol

Anyone else have any ID possibilities? I believe I got these from Kudzu in late 05 maybe early 06.
Take care
and K ...send me some Black boo when you can :-)

Looks like moso to me. Think I can even see the characteristic fuzz on one of the culms.
