Why is it called a viewing stone? It doesn't look very big. 500 lbs!! That's heavy. Kt

The Japanese and Chinese people donated or lent these viewing stones. They are highly revered and extremely scarce. They are suppose to evoke an image/scenery/landscape/or view. I couldn't believe how heavy these are. I figured maybe 100 lbs or so.I don't know what they are made of but it sure is heavy. These were naturally formed over thousands of years.

Could these stones be molten fragments from an asteroid strike? If these are solidifed metal, that could explain the weight.

When I was a kid, I found a rock that is very heavy. I never figured out its composition. It appears to be solid metal of some kind. Maybe it's radioactive and I've been dragging it with me ever since. That would explain a few things I guess.

Looks a lot like jasper rock to me based upon color, smooth texture, and veins. Jasper is very dense - heavy. Rgds
