Taking Cuttings of Bamboo in one place, planting in another

We have some bamboo, and we want to move it somewhere else. Here's the problem: We don't know how to take cuttings from plants and then plant them. I assume there are some seasoned gardeners on this forum, but we've never had to deal with this before, so layman's terms would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It is difficult to impossible to grow bamboo from cuttings. You need to dig up culms with good sized rootballs for best results.

I found this to be really hard digging, but possible if you persist. Don't take young culms, they won't survive. Take 2 year old canes with BIG root balls. They don't go deep, but wide. Got any strong teenage boys? They will look bad the first year after transplanting, but recover quickly the second, then stand back!

I dug up a culm of my Buddha Belly last spring. It looked rough for about a year. I think this year it will be fantastic. I had my kids water it for about a month when I first transplanted. If you watered everyday it would be better than my kid waterers.
