I have angel mist bamboo that has been in ground for over 2 years. my yard maintenance guy put dirt and old decaying mulch about 6 inches deep around base of plants. will that be beneficial or could it hurt the roots. does bamboo have air roots and is it ok to cover them up. it is clumping bamboo. He also put about 6 inches of it around bases of oak trees that are about 12 years old.

It's never been a problem when I've done that. I will use cow manure mixed with soil and put it several inches deep around my bamboos and they do just fine. Kt

Your bamboo should be just fine. The oak trees however, should never have soil added around the base. This can cause rot,and kill the trees.
