How about window curtains or blinds? Otherwise look for someone elsewhere in town who has a clump and ask if you can dig a division from it, at an appropriate time like spring or fall. Maybe there happens to be one in somebody's yard within reasonable distance. The plant is certainly easy to spot. You'll have to be equipped to and capable of digging and transporting a bamboo division. This involves cutting through what amounts to a woody sod, lifting the division without it falling apart and getting it replanted without it drying out. If you haven't done it before you may not be up to it.

Most bamboos flower and set seed infrequently so seed is not likely to be easily come by. And you would have to invest in and operate a seed-starting setup and subsequent growing on procedure; starting bamboo from seeds is not like sowing sunflowers or beans in the garden.
