Fastest growing Bamboo?

I was wondering if anyone had any information on what species of bamboo grew at the fastest rate. I have heard reports of some species of bamboo growing at several feet in a day and I wanted to know if anyone here knew what species that would be.

Thanks!

Something like giant timber bamboo, such as Ph. bambusoides or Ph. edulis, under ideal conditions in Asia could do several feet per day. If you expect that behavior in your U.S. growing Zone, you will probably be disappointed. My own experience growing about 80 different species in Zone 8 is a maximum of 3-4 inches per day with certain mature Phyllostachys. In a warmer Zone it would likely be more than that.

Several years ago, I measured a Henon culm growing 17 inches in a 24 hour period.

10 inches or less is more common for most of my bamboos here.
