bamboo growing wild in Columbia PA

This summer I was visting some friends in Columbia Pennsylvania, I noticed a very large grove of bamboo growing near his home. After I realized what it was (I had never seen a bamboo grove prior to that) I noticed that the stuff was growing wild all over the area. Its height was about 25 feet and it was very attractive. I have been wanting to plant a running bamboo on my property for some time-but no nurseries in this area sell it and I didnt want to pay expensive shipping fees. Needless to say I dug some up and brought it home. I am hoping that someone from that area of PA can tell me what cultivar it might be. It is definately a runner, about 25 feet tall, the groves were very dense, the largest culms were at least 1-1/4" diameter, I do no know what zone Columbia is in. I am in 5b and so far the temperatures have gone down as low as 2 degrees (only for one night) and the plant has suffered no ill effects. Any help on the identification will be greatly appreciated

thanks
