Yellow stemmed bamboo - for bean poles?

There is a village lot being cleared to put in a gas station (like we need another one) that has a huge stand of bright yellow bamboo growing on it, each maybe 3/4" diameter, and max of 7' tall. I was wondering if I could use the fresh stalks to make bean poles or would I be pushing my luck and end up getting a bamboo forest in my veggie garden?
