The leaves look like oldhamii as do the culms, but it's growth habit(leaning a bit outward - vaselike and short limbs) is more like Bambusa textilis.

Strange to see such small shoots coming up outside the clump. Large clumpers will always put up larger shoots even after dry spells but never smaller shoots, unless the underground rhizome was separated from the 'mother' plant or unless the smaller looking culms are actually limbs from a culm cut back under ground level.

Thanks. I got an e-mail response later today from a bamboo expert who said this was in fact oldhamii, though I'll have to check out the textilis species you mentioned. I'll probably like that one, too!

My oldhamii has much longer limbs and is more vertical or erect.

How thick do the culms get? Oldhamii culms get up to 6 inches in diameter however, here, they only have gotten to 4 inches thick. Both oldhamii and textilis grow to 40 feet tall here.

Nice looking clump whatever it is.
