For the best stats on bamboo, check the ABS species listing on their website. Good info on height, where best to plant re sun/shade, etc. Black bamboo will grow to around 18-25ft in your area. I'd suggest Phyllostachys aurea Koi. It has cool bulging nodes towards the bottom of the plant and yellow culms with green striping. It tends to be less aggressive and runs more shallow than many other
runners including Golden Bamboo. Best species for your needs/wants will depend a lot on how much sun or shade your area gets. The corner for bamboo has full morning sun and partial sun around noon. It is in complete shade after 2:30pm or so.

I have a patch of P. nigra with culms averaging 3/4" diameter and 14' tall. Planted 6 years ago, its now about 20'x16' and some culms are 1" dia. The start was from a small grove near Sanger. Pics available.
