Thanks for posting pix. That definitely looks like it's starting to flower. However, every flowering seems to be different. Maybe your plant will survive. In any case, I suggest you post on bambooweb.info and see if anyone else is experiencing this.

Saw similar at San Diego Zoo last month. No seeds were found.

My oldhamii has never bloomed, but one variety of textilis bloomed and survived.

My Arrow bamboo has never stopped blooming since I got it many years ago. The main plant is still in a pot but all of the divisions that were taken from it kept blooming also.

I am in Fresno, ca zone 9 and about 3 months ago my B.Oldhammi that is 50 foot tall and 10 years old started flowering. i pruned it and fertilized it but its nearly dead. so sad such a huge plant is going to be gone :)

I would like some of the seed. I do a lot of seed work. I have seedlings of punting pole and others if you are interested in a trade.
