I will be the first boo grower with a ground cover P. vivax.
It's been frozen to the rhizomes a few years in a row and pushes many small culms.
Interesting, every year a few feet shorter.

We have that "warm/hot then freezing temps" several times a year down here. Texas is known for that. It's usually not the cold that kills things down here, it's the constant warmth then freeze that sometimes happens twice a week.

Just as things start to grow, two days later their frozen. I can say that we don't have the extreme cold that you do, but the wind is blowing hard here as I type this post.

My boo was nice and green despite the temps. It was the wind and ice that did it in. I have Vivax "springhill" and may have an extra if you want to try this extra hardy vivax. I'm probably going to have lots of little shoots. Plus I have this planted in what has turned out to be a bad spot for wind. The wind funnels between two houses and is concentrated on this spot. So I may decide to dig it all up. I had 3 clums at 20 feet so there are probably a lot of rhizomes under there.
