Clumping bamboo DEAD?

I have clumping bamboo in my back yard. I am not sure what kind of bamboo but I do know that it stays tighlty in its area and had shoots nearly 15 feet in the air. I have had it for 4 years and it has made it through every winter Texas has brought us. This year however, is another story, my bamboo lost all its leaves and all that is left is brown thick shoots. Is it dead? Or is there a chance it might come back? Please help, as I LOVE my cluping Bamboo! Thanks!

If no new growth comes at the normal time this year, then you will know.

Did you have a severe winter with lower than normal temperatures? Also, can you post a picture?

Several of my Bambusas did the same this year with the lower than normal temps, but they will return from the ground, and even some of the lower culms will regrow limbs and leaves.

I know this from previous years. I am west of you and had cooler temps, so your's should be fine.

Just wait and see. New shoots should emerge within a few weeks.
