bamboo from cutting?

Recently a house was built very close to my property line. I'd like to create a bamboo "fence" I currently have the tall clumping and the smaller clumping varietys.

I know they can be dug for new plantings. However that is a bigger job than I care for. Also the length of the fence will be at least 50 feet. Can I propogate from cuttings? If so, how? Jill

You can with some varieties of clumpers, but it may not be easy, and success rates vary. Further, anything you do succeed in growing from cuttings will take at least 5 years to grow big enough to provide screening as a hedge. I'm not trying to discourage you...just providing a reality check.
