It's not uncommon for some shoots to abort. Just make sure you're giving the plant plenty of water without drowning it.

As for posting of pictures, you have two options: 1) login at GardenWeb and click on the Gallery link near the top of the Bamboo Forum page; there are instructions for how to post a picture; or 2) if you know basic HTML and have an Internet site where you can store pictures (like Photobucket.com), you can simply put the link(s) into a regular message thread in the forum.

Yep it is, I protect my small grove by containing it in a wire fence and then throw in leaves and straw to keep it warm inside. I dont know what I'm going to do later when it gets bigger and I cant contain it though. Usually around March I start to take the fencing down and low and behold it is shooting. I do have some in my house too just in case the outside boo doesn't make it. Does your henon do good in Pa? I want to try some different bamboo but I'm afraid it may die since I'm in Ohio. I do think that I'm in a Microclimate though because my small neighborhood is always warmer and more humid than around me. Its always foggy and warmer. Weird. How big does your Henon canes get? A nice fellow bambooer sent me some Moso seeds and heteroclada seeds so I'm going to try that. Mzkrista
