I planted divisions of an old Fargesia nitida (unknown variety) into a nice screen last spring and now most are forming flowers. I'd like to harvest seed, but do not want to have the prominent area they are in go shabby while they do their swan song--it's my favorite part of the garden. If I was to move them to an out-of-the-way spot for the duration, am I likely to shock them too much? As I said, it's the best part of the garden, and I just can't bear to watch the decline, which I understand is not always rapid or complete, in my favorite part of the garden.
