I got some black bamboo rhizomes last month, and buried them in a shallow trough in loose soil in the garden. Today I dug them up and noticed new shoots and roots. You might try burying the rhizome. Josh

That's a running bamboo, so you probably will have no luck getting the branch to grow. I would bury the rhizome as Josh mentioned and keep it watered well. Although it has NO roots on it, there is a good chance that it will sprout roots and begin to grow. Next time get a rhizome that has roots and it should grow without any problem. Good Luck Kt

Should i plant the rhizome indoors? It is still in the 30's at night.... Thank you both!

I would plant it outside as long as there are no hard freezes. The ground will keep the rhizome safe, but the above ground leaves might get damaged when temps go below freezing. You could cover it each night that it gets cold but be sure and remove the cover during the day. Good Luck Kt
