Emergency move of running bamboo

I don't know what kind of bamboo I have, just a runner. When I planted it (dug from a grove at a friend's), I planted it too close to my vegetable garden (which keeps expanding).

Now I've got a row of shoots coming up in my garden.

Can I just dig up the entire bamboo plant and then follow along and try to get the shoots and transplant the whole thing in a better spot? I was planning on cultivating/tilling my garden in the next few weeks and bamboo growing there just won't do. LOL.

I know when it's shooting isn't a good time to move it, but this is a freak situation. My bad. I didn't think that I'd be expanding my garden like I have and thought I put the bamboo far enough away. But I did not. Oops.
