Problem with bamboo

Can anyone please help with this problem?
I am in Qld Australia and this happened to my bamboo last year. The first 4 sections from the ground up are okay but this is how the rest is. It grew to around 3mtrs.
Only discovered the holes after pulling the outer leaves off.
I have 4 new shoots and am hoping this will not happen again.

Bamboo Mites, spray with Imidacloprid for the next year to kill off the population.
