Black bamboo is green it's first year. Aren't you removing next years black culms?

No, I waited to be sure.
The thick black culms that you see are from last year.
The thin black culms are from the year before....2008.

Even during their first year, Black Bamboo culms are dark
beneath the mulch/soil line.

Didn't know you grew bamboo. I have been wanting to try out a little bamboo, but it's hard to find at a reasonable price here. If I had known, I would have asked you for a rhizome or two to try out.

Yeah, I'm into bamboo...well, getting into it at least (my grove is still young).
If I have any rogue rhizomes, I'll try propagating one for you. I'm taking a break
from mowing the back yard right now, but I'll give the bamboo a peek when I'm out
there in a few minutes. We're getting close to black bamboo shooting time, here....

BTW How is your avocado tree doing? My avocado and mango both have had leaves turning brown and falling off. I think it's too dry in my place, even though I mist them.
