Thinking of planting some bamboo :)

Hello all , I've been looking into two certan typs of bamboo for a privacy patch in front of my yard. It's a nice big area, wooded with very hard, rocky clay soil with just a few inches top soil but has some sun light poking through since my dad had it timbered a couple of years ago. Even though the vegitation is starting to recover, I'd still like a patch within the trees. I've been reading tons of postings here, and there's a wealth of information...so I guess it's time to brave up and ask questions.

Now...I've been looking at the fountain bamboo, i think Fargesia murielli (spelling?),because it clumps, but just can't get my eyes off the red margin (runner). I've heard bamboo dosen't run too aggressivly here in nortern PA but I feel more comfortable doing some reaserch first. I don't want to damage the indigenous plant life for the sake of my own comfort.
