Bamboo in a plastic pot?

Hi, two questions actually. Wanted to plant some bambusa multiplex in an area 40' x 20" x 20". Is it possible to buy a large plastic pot, cut the bottom out and plant the bamboo in that instead of the rhizome barrier? Figured the taper of the pot would be perfect as well as the thickness of the plastic. And second question, if I intersperse with lord island palms, will the bamboo kill the palms? Thanks very much for any and all help!

First, B. multiplex is a clumping bamboo, so why are you worrying about some form of barrier? A pot won't affect the growth of the bamboo until it reaches a point some years in the future where it will have slowly expanded to the edges of the pot and then be root-bound and decline. Second, bamboo doesn't kill other plants, so there is no concern about planting palms nearby.
