Yellow Groove Shooting Like Crazy

Hi everybody, new to the forum. I have a second year grove of what I believe is Yellow Groove. It started shooting last weekend here in KC, yesterday my number of shoots double to 20 I have several large shoots and a few smaller ones. I was curious if I would be better served to break off some of the smaller shoots so the bigger ones go taller. I'm not sure if it even matters but thought I would ask. I've read that the third year is the big growing year but I check the growth on these twice a day and am amazed at their progress. Any advice would be appreciated. I have five small plants I planted last year, I put in a 30" deep rhizome barrier, and the total area it has to spread is about 5'x 35'. I also have two clumps of Fargesia nitida that are in another area of the yard and havn't seen any shoots yet.
