Propagating Bamboo

Good afternoon!

Our previous next door neighbor planted some bamboo many, many years ago. Of course, it took off and made it's way into our backyard. At one point we had a mini bamboo field on that side of our yard. We ended up cutting them down to put a shed there. Now it kind of tries to grow wherever it can on that side of the yard. We've always just yanked up the sprouts that come up in our yard because we didn't want the stalks growing.

However, I've taken an interest in the bamboo now and I was wondering how on earth you properly propagate it. If I wanted to take these sprouts and relocate them, possibly even to a pot or something, will that work? Can you even grow bamboo in pots? I would imagine you could but I don't know how much they would like that. I uncovered a part of the large root that the bamboo grows from. I tried to do some research on propagating bamboo, but I couldn't find quite what I was looking for.

Any advice/input is always appreciated!
Thanks!
