It's Phyllostachys aureosulcata aka 'Yellow Groove' bamboo. The photos of those shoots are amazing. Please do upload some of them.

Do you know how old your Groove is?

my grove is 7-8 years old, i started it with 2 pieces of rhizome and a rootball with a few live 1-2 foot tall culms and after the second year they took and the growth just exploded with about 10-12 new culms and quadrupled the third year and now the grove is so large it would take 10 or so pics to cover the extent of the grove and the area it covers, it's amazing how fast this bamboo spreads and how tough the root system is once established, forgot to mention that this bamboo i have was given to me by an old neighbor and he told me how to plant and start it and you see what i have now but this bamboo grove i have pales in comparison to his main grove, i should have taken some pics of it,that grove is 5 times larger than mine but is also probally 20+ years old

Sounds like I have a lot of work ahead of me as I have the same boo but a variation thats has yellow culms. Its already broken out of my barrier in 4-5 places and its been 4 yrs. I can only imagine 8yrs. I have yet to start digging it up but its probably all over my yard by now. I want to keep it in a 14 X 3 area only, barrier was concrete but I dont think its holding well except for one side where they havnet yet broken..
