Where to fertilize?

Hi guys, I've never fertilized my bamboo and have been told to use a high nitrogen grass fertilizer. My questions is...where do I apply the fertilizer? I normally fertilize the drip line or outer area of my fruit trees. Do I do this with bamboo or do I put fertilizer right in the middle of my clumps? All of my bamboo is clumping.

Depending on ths size of the plant, the roots can extend a few feet beyond the outer culms. Putting the fertilizer at least a foot or so is a good idea. Fertilizing amongst the culms is also desireable.
