I have been agonizing (in a mostly pleasurable way) about my new 17 baby boos just planted this week. I took the recommendation of the nursery and mulched them in a horse stall waste (a mixture of wood chips and manure). It wasn't composted first and now I am worried that it is too hot for the bamboo. I am getting mixed information on this: some people say that the urine in the wood chips will quickly burn off/run off, and others are saying that it will permeate the soil and screw up the pH balance.

I would welcome the veterans to weigh in. If it seems to be a risk, I am going to run out there in my jammies and pull it off.
