Phyllostachys nigra - Daikokuchiku, I love you!

I only seem to post here when my bamboo is shooting but gee it's like a litter of puppies when it starts.

I planted it in the wrongest spot, hot, dry, windy, full sun and yet it is beautiful and forgiving, as long as we water it - a lot. But on the up side it only expands into the areas we water the summer before so we can make it go where we want it.

In five years it has expanded into a nice hedge 3' x 20' along our fence - we are on the end so no neighbors behind the fence, just a road.

Give it a chance if you have the room.
