can bare bamboo poles root themselves?

Thirston

I cut down some bamboo today and stripped all of the branches/leaves so I could use the pieces for a trellis. Is it possible for the bamboo poles to root themselves once I place the ends in the ground? If so, how might I prevent this? A little roundup on the ends perhaps?

I don't know the type of bamboo it was however I know it was invasive/spreading, was green with no verigation, about 15 feet tall, and about a 1.5" diameter.

Thanks in advance for your help.
