Not true. There are plenty of bamboos that grow quite well here.

The best location I've found, by far, is Glover Nursery in the South Jordan area. 13oo West and roughly 9300 South or so. Pretty much all the boos they sell will do well in this climate. And the folks there are really informative and helpful.

Wasatch Shadows also has them in Sandy. I currently have a large collection of plants most of which I have grown over the winter here in American Fork. I am in the middle of putting in a sprinkling system right now I would invite you over to see the collection.
