I also posted this in Ornamental grasses, but just trying to maximize my chances of answers!!
Hello,
I recently brought back some rhizomes of Arundo Donax from south Texas. I found it growing all over, and transplanted some home to Missouri. WhatÂs weird is that the clump I took it from was all green, tall, and growing wild in a waste area. Now thatÂs itÂs starting to grow well, I have shoots about a foot and a half tall, with variegated leaves that are more white than green. I would describe them as white leaves with green striping. Does Arundo Donax proper produce variegated shoots when young, or have I somehow gotten ahold of the subspecies "Versicolor"? If so, I will be sorely disappointed, as I doubt it can make it through my winter even with protection. Any advice would be most appreciated!
