peppermint under bamboo

Hello. I have new bamboo plants that will take awhile to spread throughout the designated area. Does anybody see any reason why i couldn't plant peppermint underneath it? It will mulch it temporarily and the bamboo shouldn't have any trouble coming up through it. Appreciate the feedback.

peace & love,,,,,,,,,jane

    It should be okay.

Plant what you want. There's nothing you can put in under bamboo that is going to interfere with its growth.

The opposite may be true, however. I have seen some bamboo that is used for a hedge. It is about 3 foot tick and has about 12 growing seasons behind it. The root mass in this hedge is so dense, nothing will grow there... not even weeds.
