Fresh-Cut Bamboo for Stakes?

This is probably a stupid question, as i know nothing about bamboo. But is it possible to use non-cured bamboo for garden stakes or will it just rot in the ground right away?

I have a bamboo grove in my neighborhood so it seems crazy to buy the stuff, but i need stakes ASAP!

Use the older culms and you shouldn't have a problem. Young yearling culms will rot immediately, and older culms probably won't last as long as cured culms, but I've used them without a problem here.

Different types of bamboo will rot at different rates also.

Thanks so much! I'll give it a try; there's plenty of older stalks to choose from.
