Ya know those indoor decorative bamboo plants sold in a vase

that are either grown to form a spiral or are straight? It seems they are sold just about everywhere plants are sold such as in many grocery store florist shops. Anyway, apparently my house doesn't provide enough light to suit mine, so I'm wondering if anyone knows how they do when planted outdoors?

What kind of bamboo are they and what soil, light and other conditions and care do they require?

Those plants aren't bamboo--they are a species of Dracaena (sanderiana I believe). They are strictly tropical and wound not survive in the ground outside of zone 10.
