If I use fresh cut bamboo for a tomato trellis, will it root?

I have access to a bunch of bamboo, but did not plan ahead enough to think to cut and dry it last fall for my garden this year. I want to just cut some down and use it within a few days after cutting as a trellis for both my tomatoes, beans and peas. The peas are coming up and need something right away, so I would have to put it right in the ground. Will fresh bamboo root and spread? I DO NOT want that because this bamboo is very invasive.

Take a deep breath and relax. If bamboo were that easy to grow, it wouldn't cost $50 for a pot. The likelihood of a bamboo stake rooting is essentially nil. If by some miracle it were to start putting out leaves and roots, you could just pull it out of the ground; bamboo do not regenerate from fragments. Running bamboo can not be propagated from culm cuttings, and tropical, clumping bamboo require special techniques and conditions to propagate from culms.

These are canes that are at least 1 year old, right? They're not brand new culms from this year's shoots? If they are brand new culms, don't use them -- they'll most likely wither and turn floppy.
