If you could send some pics of the shoots it would help a lot.

Are the shoots seeming to be wilted over of snapped. I had a few from a badly taken division just wilt in half and die. I dont think this is the problem for you though.

Just post some pics and we'll go from there.

Oh. Do you know if it has a big root mass or not? that was a problem with mine. It had to much foliage for its root mass. Also, are the leaves curling? If so, misting them once or twice daily may help.

I had noticed that with one of my bamboo plants, one day one of the shoots had been bent over like that one picture you posted. Mine were damaged by rampaging deer. It looks sort of like what happened to yours.

Thanks for the responses. I'm in downtown Philly ... could be racoons, squirrels, or a possum, but unlikely to be deer. No evidence of the leaves on the bamboo curling and we've been having pretty regular rain.

I've seen yellow groove new shoots bent over. But they straightened up as they grew and ended up with the "kink"
