I keep finding bamboo shoots from the bamboo I planted in February. In addition to the shoots going up I also see these things that are either shoots or roots instead of pointing up the are pointed across the ground. I quess my question is are these shoots or roots. Will they turn and go back under the ground? Should I put some dirt on them?

The growth has been staggering since february. I've had many shoots and many roots are also visible. I'm surprised. Next year should be prolific.
