Black Bamboo im MI?

Im pretty confident i want to try to grow black bamboo in this climate. My approach is to get a large pot and keep it in there for at least a year then after its a bit established put it out side. Has any one tried this? Would it be possible to just leave it in the pot for its course?

You'll need a very protected location to have any chance of it maturing in ground. And that is if we continue to have mild winters like 09/10.
