You have dozens and dozens of species to choose from, ranging from 12" tall groundcover to 40/50 foot tall timber bamboos. The basic types that beginners start with are usually runners in the genus Phyllostachys and clumpers in the genus Fargesia. Some of the easiest ones to fund are P. nuda, P. aureosulcata, P. aureus, P. nigra, F. nitida.
