Bamboo for Narrow Concrete Planter

Hello all!

I live in Agoura Hills, CA. Zone 10. The temps do get up to 90 around here and it is dry.

I have a narrow concrete planter that is above ground and am trying to find the appropriate bamboo for it. The narrow planter is about 9" wide and some of the other planter area is about 30"x30" It is about 3' off the ground.

Would appreciate some suggestions on some clumbing bamboo in my area.

So far, the old hamii is popular in my area as well as the Alfonse Karr. However, I think the culm of the old hamii might be too large for that narrow planter area. Also, I would like bigger culms than the 1" maximum of Alfonse Karr.

Was wondering if the Borinda Boliana or the Bambusa Vulgaris Vitata would be appropriate?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Bruce
