Looking for info

Hello,

I am looking for some bamboo to grow in containers one inside and one outside (The outside will come in for the winter).

So I guess what I am asking is what is the best kind and where can I find a place to get some. I live in an area where not a lot is sold at local places. Also I saw on "Gardening by yard" Long pole kind and fan kinds I would love one of each.

Sorry if this sounds messed up just looking where to start.

They have hundreds of acres of bamboo. You have to take a golf cart just to get around it! It is a family run business and the product is good. I know they mail bamboo, I'm not sure how though. Their website is great and they have pictures, so maybe you can find what you're looking for that way. They have tons of varieties and their prices are competitive.

The following link has the ABS Bamboo sources in PA. You might be able to visit them and see their bamboo.
I also suggest that you look at bamboogarden they have great bamboo. The ABS convention is going to be at Longwood Gardens in November if you would like to see a variety of bamboo for sale.

I had no idea there was a bamboo festival on Saturday. Thanks Bill, I will look it up.
I had a friend coming over to help me with my deck, but maybe I can break away.

Thanks guys for the heads up the sites are great and will have to get some new bamboo for my pots soon. I guess that leads to me another question while I was checking out the sites How large of pot would be healty for the bamboo outside? Seems like its going to grown 15 feet wouldnt that need a BIG POT?

I recommend Bambusa Ventricosa Kimmei. Beautiful green stripes on yellow culms. New shoots have a pinkish hue, and when kept potted it buddhas very nicely.

As for where to buy it, there are numerous retailers that offer this bamboo online cheaply. Here are two off the top of my head.

As for bamboo outside, the bigger the pot the better. It also means that you will have to divide it less often, but it will laso be harder to move around. I'd say a nice square 15 to 25 gal container should do the trick.
